Ahead of the BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 season, PSIS Semarang has seen major changes, including several key player departures. Local defensive stalwarts Fredyan Wahyu and Wahyu Prasetyo have moved to Malut United. They follow in the footsteps of Hari Nur Yulianto, who made the same move last season. PSIS Semarang also lost a vital foreign player, Taisei Marukawa, who transferred to Dewa United. PSIS cited foreign player regulations as a reason for Marukawa’s departure. However, PSIS has made new signings to strengthen the squad, including Zalnando, who was loaned from Persib Bandung. Young talents Aulia Rahman (17 years old) and Rahmat Syawal (18 years old) are also expected to make an impact. Here is a recap of PSIS Semarang’s official transfers at the start of the 2024/2025 season:

The ex-defender of Persija Jakarta and Persis Solo has opted to join PSBS Biak, which has been promoted to BRI Liga 1 2024/2025. Jaime had participated in pre-season with Bhayangkara FC, and even scored in a friendly match against PSIS Semarang. However, he chose to represent PSBS for the upcoming season. The 34-year-old player has signed a short-term contract for the season. "Everything is finalized, and he will be joining the team shortly," said Yan Permenas Mandenas, President of PSBS, in a release. Jaime has arrived in Biak to join PSBS and is likely to be available for their match against PSM Makassar on August 16, 2024, at Stadion Kapten I Wayan Dipta, Gianyar. "Our goal is to strengthen our defense, and we hope Jaime will enhance and solidify our backline," Yan Mandenas added. Jaime is the eighth foreign player to join PSBS, joining Alexsandro from Brazil, Abel Arganaraz and Gabriel Esparza from Argentina, Williams Lugo from Colombia, Takuya Matsunaga from Japan, Jonata Machado from Brazil, and Julian Velazquez from Argentina. Jaime made his Liga 1 debut in 2018. In his first season, the veteran from Brazil and Portugal leagues led Macan Kemayoran to the championship.

As the defending champions, Persib will host Liga 2 champions PSBS Biak on August 9, 2024, at Stadion Si Jalak Harupat (SJH), Soreang, Bandung Regency. Persib will return to SJH for the second week of Liga 1, where they will face Dewa United on August 19, 2024. Dewa United will have to be the traveling team for Liga 1 next season due to the Indomilk Arena in Tangerang being under renovation by the government. On September 23, 2024, Persib will have a big match against Persija Jakarta in the sixth week, to be played at SJH. From the eighth week onwards, Persib will no longer play at SJH for Liga 1, as they will move to Stadion Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA), which is currently under renovation. In the early season transfer market, Persib has not been very aggressive.
